Their Story: “Haris and I are high school sweethearts and couple of 11 years. We are from Nebraska and actually met in middle school. Between our busy work/training schedule we like to spend time hiking in the mountains with our dog. We want a small Colorado midro-wedding because we want to share our day with our closest family and friends.”

Micro-Wedding Planning:  We first started working with Logan and Haris just two months prior to their early May micro-wedding through our Ceremony Site Report, which is a great place to get started as it is a written consultation in which we not only provide great affordable micro-wedding venues that fit with couples needs, budget, and priorities….. but, we also give planning guidance to make it all flow well.

They identified their top priorities as having a scenic mountain views, easy and organizes sequencing of events, seating for their guests, easily accessible for elder, to bring ther dogs.  Check, check and check!  ⬇️ 🎉  Of course, I’m biased, but I think our Colorado micro-wedding packages are picturesque (honestly, we specialize in finding small wedding sites with a view)!   With 38 expected guests, and for the time of year (it can still be snowy at higher elevations), Logan and Haris decided on Sunrise Amphitheater in Boulder which is dog friendly, wheel chair accessible and affordable.

Logan and Haris's Colorado micro-wedding at Sunrise Amphitheater in Boulder was a day to remember! The details shots and dressing of the bride were absolutely stunning, and the groom's mom was there to help with the final touches, pinning his boutonniere. The couple's "first look" was filled with love and laughter, and even with rain in the forecast, the family still managed to capture some fun shots BEFORE heading over to Sunrise Amphitheater. Guests arrived at Chautauqua Park, where the bride and her escort were at the top of the Amphitheater, waiting to make their entrance. The whole ceremony was beautiful, with the bride walking down the aisle to the song “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton and the kiss/exit song was “Diamond in My Pocket” by Cody Johnson.  After the ceremony, the couple signed their license and snapped a few photos before the rain came in. At the Community House in Chautauqua Park, Logan and Haris had their ceremonial cake cutting and dinner, all while surrounded by their loved ones. The photos turned out amazing, and the coordination was flawless. It was the perfect micro-wedding in Colorado for this amazing couple!

Have a Backup Plan:  As much as you’d love to have your wedding ceremony outside with the backdrop of the beautiful Colorado mountains, it’s essential to have a backup plan in case of rain. Consult with your wedding planner or venue owner to see if they have ideas on nearby shelters to hijak that can accommodate your guests.  Sometimes restaurants, if they are closed for lunch, will allow you to arrive early and have a standing cermeony in the spot where you plan to have dinner.  Other times couples will rent an AirBNB or VRBO which can be ultilized NOTE:  I do recommend being clear about this with owners before booking and do not move furniture - simple sit around the living room (I actually did this on my own micro-wedding day back in July of 2007).  Having a backup venue will give you peace of mind and ensure that your wedding day flows smoothly, rain or shine.

Umbrellas and Rain Ponchos.  Make sure that you provide umbrellas and rain ponchos for yourselves, the bridal party, and guests. You can purchase trendy and colorful umbrellas that will brighten up your wedding day. Matching clear or transparent rain ponchos can be another great option, as they’ll keep you dry and still show off your wedding attire.  NOTE:  with booking our intiamte wedding package, our onsite coordinator does bring umbrellas so that you don't have to incur that expense or handle those logistics.

Decorations that Can Withstand Rain + Towels.  If you plan on having an outdoor micro-wedding where there will be decorations like flowers and candles, plan your decorations in a way that they can withstand any weather condition, especially rain. For flowers, choose types that thrive well in wet conditions, such as lilies and roses. Use waterproof candles or lanterns rather than paper or fabric candles. If you have seating, bring some extra towels to wipe off the chairs or benches (yes, with our micro-wedidng package, we bring towels and sometimes blankets for witner weddings).  Using the correct decorations will protect you from the disappointment of ruined decorations.

    About Wendee

I've been planning weddings since 1995 when I moved to Colorado from Iowa.  I cut my teeth at Keystone Resort in their wedding department, then ventured on to planning corporate meetings.  But, I kept helping friends, and their friends with weddings, eventually starting my first full-service company in 2002 (yes - planned the big overwhelming ones).  In 2012 with the birth of my son, values shifted and I decided to "go small" with intimate and meaningful micro-weddings  Please connect with me to  make your dreamy, simple mountain wedding come true!

    Behind the Scenes

Ever wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes of a micro-wedding day?  Jaime L. Barba, one of our talented professional photographers, captured me at work from one of our May 2023 weddings in Boulder, Colorado.  Enjoy! .... and yes, she does wedding-day content creation (a great alternative if you cannot afford videography) for couples as well as photography.

    Content Creation

What is a wedding day content creator?  It’s someone who is there on your wedding day taking pictures on a cell phone (or in Jaime's case, her professional equipement), documenting behind-the-scenes moments, capturing and telling stories, and delivering short-form media content of your wedding day in real-time.  Checkout one from our  September 2023 weddings  ⬇️.
